Specimen Requirements
| Collection Requirements | Specimen requirement: Container: Lavender (EDTA) collection tube Specimen Type: Peripheral blood, bone marrow, tissue, paraffin block Preferred Collection Volume: 1 mL Minimum Collection Volume: 0.5 mL Collection Instructions: For tissue: 5×5×5 mm minimum or 500 mg of tissue. Paraffin Block: Formalin fixed only; not B-5 fixed. Rejection Criteria: B5 fixed tissue. Clotted peripheral blood or bone marrow. Thawed tissue specimen. Specimens drawn in heparin will be rejected due to heparin’s inhibitory nature to Taq Polymerase. | Shipping / Handling Instructions | Send specimen at room temperature or with cold pack
(April-October). Tissue must be frozen within 1 hr of collection. Send specimen frozen and on dry ice. Specimen must arrive within 72 hrs of collection (48 hours for ACD and N/A for FFPE specimens). If available, a pathology report and H & E slide should accompany the FFPE specimen. |
