Specimen Requirements
| Collection Requirements | (EDTA) collection tube Specimen Type: Plasma Preferred Collection Volume:1 mL Minimum Collection Volume: 0.6 mL Collection Instructions: Specimen must be collected in EDTA (lavender) tubes. Specimen Handling: Separate plasma from whole blood within 6 hours of collection by centrifuging at 800-1600 x g for 20 minutes at room temperature or 4 degrees. Transfer plasma to a sterile polypropylene tube. Plasma specimens may be stored at 2-8C for up to 7 days. Transport plasma specimens at 2-8C Rejection Criteria: Whole blood specimen, heparinized sample, plasma not separated within 6 hrs from whole blood, hemolyzed specimens.
