Specimen Requirements

Collection Requirements Before collection, platelet study must be scheduled with Coagulation laboratory at 214-633-4959. Platelet count should be greater than 100,000. Specimens should be collected in 2-3 mL 3.2% sodium citrate (light blue top) tubes. Do not under or over-fill collection tubes. Gently invert the tube end-over-end 8-10 times. Do not place in tube system.
Shipping / Handling Instructions Specimen must remain at room temperature. Specimen must be received within 2 hours of collection. Specimenmust be accompanied by a “Platelet Aggregation Study History Form”. The intrepretation may be delayed until form has been submitted.
